MACON, GA - The Allen University men's cross country team improved greatly from last season as they went on to place 8th out of 14 schools at the 2023 SIAC Championships from Macon, GA on Friday.
The Allen men only managed a 14th place finish in 2022, but improved by six places this season finishing the meet with 219 points, just a few points behind Clark and EWU for 6th place. Morehouse College (Ga) won the meet followed by Benedict. AU finished just ahead of FVSU and KSU, who tied for 9th as well as Savannah, Lane, LeMoyne and Miles.
Allen was led by freshman
Bryant Simpson who placed 26th overall out of 93 runners in the 8K in a time of 33:12 while freshman teammate
Adrian Driver came in 32nd in 33:59. Freshman
Zeccharia Addison then came in third on the team and 48th overall in a time of 35:42 while placing 4th and 5th on Allen to complete the team scoring were freshmen
Tyrone Higgins in 50th in 35:43 and
Sean Brown in 63rd in 37:59.
Also competing were junior
Jabari Moss who finished 67th in 39:45 and freshman
Jaylen Patterson in 76th in 42:23. The team will now ready themselves for the start of the indoor track and field season that begins in December.
