COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's basketball team rallied from a first half deficit to come all the way back and oust conference foe Edward Waters University 61-58 from Adams Gym Saturday afternoon.
Allen, who improved to 10-9 overall and 6-8 in the SIAC, would outscore the Tigers 23-14 in the third quarter and again 12-10 in the fourth as they got their revenge on the Lady Tigers (9-11, 5-9) from their defeat the other night. The two new conference foes have now split their hardwood rivalry this season between the two African Methodist Episcopal (AME) affiliated institutions.

EWU got out to a good start against the Lady Jackets running out to a 14-2 lead and then led 16-9 after the first quarter. After EWU increased their lead to 9 points at 22-13 midway through the second quarter, they would then take a 34-26 halftime advantage.Â
Then, consecutive three-pointers from Jamison-Whitfield followed by two free throws would get Allen to within three points of the Tigers at 37-34 at the 6:15 mark of the third quarter. Three-pointers from forward
Cardrina Nolen and
Kayla Pope along with more free throws from DJW would get Allen to within two points at 44-42. AU then closed the quarter on a 7-2 run to take their first lead of the game at 49-48 at the end of three.
EWU would grab their final lead of the game at 54-50 with 6:30 to play before Allen cliched the win down the stretch with free throws and a layup from Nolen, a layup from guard
Keyshuna Fair, free throws from freshman forwardÂ
