COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's soccer team fell 4-1 in their home opener on Thursday afternoon falling to Div. III Mississippi University for Women.
Allen struck first in the opening five minutes of the game as junior midfielder
Acacia Small knocked in the goal on a penalty kick after being taken down in the box.Â
MUW came back though scoring the next two goals past freshman keeper
Nalaine McCants. They tied the match 4 minutes after Allen's opening goal before MUW took lead in the 33rd minute.Â
MUW then added two more goals in the second half scoring in the 57th and 65th minutes of action to take a commanding 4-1 lead.
McCants would go on to make 6 saves overall on 10 shots on goal as MUW only outshot the Yellow Jackets 13-6 and just 7-4 in the second half. Small and
Sha'keryah Passmore led with 2 shots apiece.Â
Allen will next return to action on Saturday when they make the crosstown trip to face NAIA foe Columbia International at 12 Noon.Â
