Allen Registers Nine Runs in Series Against Clark Atlanta

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen softball team tallied four runs in consecutive games this weekend but fell 13-4, 18-4 and 17-1 to SIAC foe Clark Atlanta.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Breighana Spencer as she notched her second home run of the season against the Panthers. For the weekend, Spencer tallied four hits.

Shaniya Jackson also had a stellar outing as she registered four hits over the three games. Jackson leads Allen with 11 stolen bases this season. 

With the three losses, Allen falls to 0-18 on the year while Clark Atlanta improves to 8-27.

GAME ONE
  • Clark Atlanta came out strong in the opening frame, logging six runs in the top of the first inning.
  • Spencer then led-off with a home run in the bottom of the first to get Allen on the board.
  • After going down 11-1 in the third inning, Allen outscored Clark Atlanta 3-2 to end the game before falling 13-4.

GAME TWO 

  • Clark Atlanta jumped out to a 17-1 lead through four innings.
  • Allen then responded with three runs over the last two innings.
  • The Yellow Jackets rally fell short as Clark Atlanta went on to earn the 18-4 victory. 

GAME THREE

  • The Panthers came out aggressive in the final game of the series, jumping out to a 17-0 lead.
  • After failing to score a run through four innings, Allen finally got on the board when Jackson hit a sac-fly to center field that brought in Spencer.
  • Clark Atlanta held on for the 17-1 victory.

UP NEXT 
Allen will look to bounce back Friday when it travels to face Voorhees at 2:00 p.m.
