COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen softball team accumulated seven runs over two games but fell 20-1 and 16-6 to hometown foe Benedict Saturday at Tiger Field.
Allen's six runs in game two of the double-header was the most runs the Yellow Jackets have scored since the season opener against Lemoyne-Owen.
With the two losses, Allen falls to 0-11 on the season while Benedict improves to 17-14.
GAME ONE
- Benedict came out aggressive in the opening frame, jumping out to an 11-1 lead after the first inning.
- Allen's lone run came at the top of the first inning when Latavia Davis doubled to left center, bringing in Breighana Spencer.
- Benedict registered nine runs over the following two innings to extend its lead to 19.
- Despite dropping the contest 20-1, three different Yellow Jackets logged a hit.
GAME TWOÂ
- Allen's offense came alive in the second game of Saturday's double-header as the Yellow Jackets registered six hits and six runs.
- Over the last three innings, Allen accumulated five runs while holding Benedict to five runs.Â
- Shaniyah Jackson logged two hits in game two.
- This season, Jackson is hitting a stellar .346.
- Despite a stellar offensive performance from the Yellow Jackets, Allen fell 16-6.
