COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Yellow Jacket football program added 25 student-athletes on Wednesday that will continue their academic and athletic endeavors at Allen University, as announced by head coach Teddy Keaton. 

Keaton, and the Allen coaching staff, focused heavily on the state of Florida in recruiting which proved to be beneficial on Wednesday. Of the 24 student-athletes that signed with Allen, 17 hail from the state of Florida.

The states of Georgia and South Carolina were also represented with this year's class. 

Three of the signees from South Carolina come from Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, S.C., which recently won 62 consecutive games before falling in last year's South Carolina Class AAAAA high school football state championship.

The 2022 class also featured nine mid-year enrollees that began classes at Allen in January. Five of this year's mid-year commits arrived from Feltrim Academy, a prominent prep academy, in Florida. 

"I want to thank my staff, along with the financial aid and admissions offices for all the hard work everyone did to help close this '22 class," said Keaton. " There is a lot of talent, and we addressed a lot of the issues on the defensive side of the ball, while adding a few more play-makers on offense. We still need to look at a few spots on special teams, but I'm excited about what this class will bring to the program."

20 of the 24 players to sign on Wednesday will arrive at Allen as primarily defensive players, including eight defensive linemen. 

Last season, Allen accumulated a 4-5 mark in its first season as an NCAA institution. This season, the Yellow Jackets will look to build upon last year's performance.
