COLUMBIA, S.C. - Despite three Yellow Jackets scoring in double-figures, the Allen men's basketball team fell to Benedict, 71-59, in its season finale Tuesday night at HRC Arena.
Anthony Baker Jr., Darius Williams and Stanley Christian combined for 35 points to lead the Yellow Jackets. Christian tallied a game-high 17 rebounds and played all 40 minutes.
With the loss, Allen finishes its 2021-22 campaign with a 6-20 mark.
Allen trailed by 19 with seven minutes remaining but cut the lead to 10 with two minutes left.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benedict came out aggressive and held a 20 point lead in the first half.
- Allen reduced the lead but still faced a 16 point deficit at halftime.
- Baker Jr. led the Yellow Jackets in the first half with 10 points and four rebounds.
- Christian also had a solid performance in the first half as he logged seven points and seven rebounds.
- Williams struggled in the first half but bounced back in the second half, leading the Yellow Jackets with eight points.
- Christian grabbed 10 boards in the second half, bringing his total for the game to 17.
- Allen went on a 9-0 run late in the second half but was unable to cut the deficit to single-digits
- Benedict went on to earn a 71-59 victory.
