COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen men's basketball team fell to Savannah State, 66-78, Monday night at Adams Gymnasium.
The Yellow Jackets led in nearly every statistical category, but committed 23 turnovers which proved to be the difference in the contest.
Allen was led by Stanley Christian who logged 22 points and 17 rebounds. Darius Williams and Anthony Baker Jr., joined Christian as the three Yellow Jackets to score in double-figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Christian logged a double-double in the first half with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- Allen out-rebounded Savannah State 26-13 in the first half.
- The Yellow Jackets led by three going into the break despite committing 11 turnovers, compared to three turnovers for the Tigers.
- Allen held Savannah State to 2-10 from three in the first half.
- The first half was a back and forth affair as it featured eight lead changes.
- Savannah State showed its defensive prowess in the second half, causing 12 Allen turnovers. For the game, the Tigers scored 26 points off of turnovers.
- Avery Joyner led the Tigers with 22 points.
