Brandon J. Lowery serves as the Head Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Coach and Director of Athletics Operations at Allen University. A native of Darlington, South Carolina, Lowery has built his career around leadership, student development, athletics, and service, with a coaching philosophy centered on developing student-athletes both on and off the field of competition.
Lowery took the helm of the Allen University Track & Field program in 2025 and quickly began establishing a new standard for the Yellow Jackets. Under his leadership, the men's and women's programs have produced the most First and Second Team All-Conference honorees in school history while rewriting the program's record books with more than 20 school records and four conference records.
Lowery also guided the program to significant milestones on the national and conference levels. During his tenure, Allen produced its first men's track & field student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships since the university rejoined the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). The program also produced its first recipient of the SIAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year award.
Beyond performances and championships, Lowery's vision for Allen Track & Field is rooted in the total development of the student-athlete. His coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, discipline, academic achievement, personal growth, leadership, and preparing student-athletes for success beyond athletics. Lowery believes the measure of a collegiate athletics program extends beyond times, marks, medals, and championships to the type of men and women its student-athletes become.
Education & Professional Career
Lowery earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Activity Management from South Carolina State University in 2015. He later earned his Master of Science in Sports Administration from Allen University in 2025.
Prior to and alongside his career in collegiate athletics, Lowery developed an extensive background in student affairs, campus life, recreation, and operations. His professional experience includes serving as a Residential Life Coordinator at Claflin University and South Carolina State University, as well as Assistant Park Supervisor with the Richland County Recreation Commission. Those experiences helped shape his approach to leadership, mentorship, organizational management, and student-athlete development.
In addition to leading the Yellow Jackets' track & field programs, Lowery serves Allen University Athletics as Director of Athletics Operations, expanding his impact beyond his individual sport and contributing to the overall operation and advancement of the athletics department.
Personal
A proud native of Darlington, Lowery credits his family and upbringing with establishing the foundation for his approach to leadership and service. He is the son of the late Eva Lee Lowery and recognizes his late grandmother, Marie T. Lowery, and godmother, Yolanda Williamson, as two influential figures who have played significant roles in his life.
Lowery's siblings include his twin brother, Byron Lowery; Shakia Lowery; Lakia Lowery; Walter (Cathy) Cosom; Travis Cosom; Natasha Lowery; and Dwight (Michelle) Nettles, Zion McPhail.
Lowery is a member of

Through every role he holds, Lowery's mission remains consistent: build successful programs, serve his university and community, and develop student-athletes who are prepared to excel in competition, in the classroom, and in life.
