CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Allen University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Buccaneer Open 6K at Charleston Southern University on Friday morning.
The Allen men finished in 6th place while the women placed 7th. A trio of D-1 Charleston Schools finished 1,2,3 in the women's 4K race. The Citadel men edged out CSU for the men's title.
In the women's 4K (2.5 miles) the Lady Yellow Jackets were led by freshman
Measha Jones' 34th place finish in a time of 22:58. Coming in behind her were sophomore
Cori Calloway in 40th in a time of 25:15. Fellow sophomore
Aisha Patterson then finished 45th overall and third on Allen coming in a time of 29:58.
Freshmen
Antoinette Adams and
Kiana Pack then finished out the race with times of 30:34 and 30:40 respectively.
On the men's side, Allen was led by the duo of sophomore
Daquan Brock and freshman
Cecilius Bailey who tied for 44th place with equal times of 35:14 in the 6K (3.7 miles). Freshman
Jabari Moss then finished right behind the duo with a time of 35:15 while fellow freshman
Rolik Jackson came next in 37:46.
Freshmen
Zalyn Myers and
Preston Conner then completed the scoring with times of 38:02 and 38:16 respectively.
The Yellow Jacket XC teams will next return to the course on Sat., Sept. 17 at the Winthrop Adidas Invite in Rock Hill, SC.
